Surprisingly: Family Finds Whopping 51kg Jackfruit In Backyard, Sends It With regard to Guinness World Records

In the lockdown days, most people are trying to make the best of what is easily available in your own home. Growing fruits, vegetables and herbal products in the kitchen garden is a practice which is becoming increasingly popular. A family in Kollam, Kerala was taken by surprise if they spotted a humongous jackfruit increasing in their backyard. On weighing, your family found that the gigantic vegetable in fact weighed more than a whopping 51 kilos!

The family, belonging to the Edamulakkal community in Kollam, Kerala, were amazed to find the mammoth fruit growing within their backyard. According to reports, the family has now contacted Guinness World Records with their admittance. The Guinness World Records listings the world records of human accomplishments and the extremes of the natural planet. The current world record in the Guiness Book for the heaviest jackfruit can be 42.7kg, and the one these people found weight over 51.4kg and is almost 97cm within length.

John Kutty through Edamulakkal said to ANI, “When We searched, I found that the heaviest jackfruit weighs 42.72 kg plus was found in Pune. So, There are applied for Guinness World Records as well as the Limca Book of Records.”

Jackfruit or Kathal has been at the front of the news in recent times as well. A written report suggested that in the times associated with spread of Coronavirus, people are changing to kathal as a viable replacement for meats such as chicken or mutton due to the rumour that the virus can spread through meat as well. It was showing up in the surge in costs of the humble vegetable kathal, which usually surged up to 120% in 03 2020. The Kathal has a meaty texture, thus making it a viable vegetarian alternative for traditional meat-lovers.
