The closings will affect shops across Florida, Apple said Thursday night in a statement. The decision means that 16 of Apple’s 18 stores within the state have been closed again, along with just those in Jacksonville plus Sarasota still open.
“Due to current Covid-19 conditions in some of the communities we serve, we are temporarily closing stores in these areas,” an Apple spokesman told Bloomberg. “We take this step with an abundance of caution as we closely monitor the situation and we look forward to having our teams and customers back as soon as possible.”
The US coronavirus pandemic is definitely accelerating, with 34,000 brand new cases reported Wednesday by the Facilities for Disease Control and Avoidance. Cases have recently spiked in certain US states, including Florida, New york, Oklahoma, California, Texas and Az, prompting local governments to consider brand new measures.
Apple on Wed closed its seven retail stores within Houston and last week again close 11 stores across Florida, Az, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The iPhone producer had reopened the majority of its 271 US locations, including many shops in major markets like New You are able to City and Los Angeles.
Apple originally closed all its shops outside of China in March to assist curb the spread of Covid-19. Its reopened stores were separated into categories of in-store shopping, curbside assistance or shopping by appointment just. Apple has also required customers to follow along with a health checklist, conduct social distancing and wear masks while in the shop.
Apple didn’t say once the closed locations would open once again, but noted that customers might have time to pick up devices under restoration at the stores.
